Excused / Unexcused Absences
-
Excused absences are requested absences made in advance of concert sets for planned trips, work conflicts, medical procedures, and other valid reasons. Proper notification needs to be given.
-
Excused absences are also unanticipated absences due to family emergencies, illness, unavoidable work conflict, or other valid reasons. Proper notification needs to be given.
-
Unexcused absences are not acceptable.
-
If more than two rehearsals are to be missed the conductor reserves the right to ask the musician to step out of the concert.
Listening to good recordings of works is one of the best ways to learn a new piece of music. Players are encouraged to obtain recordings for reference purposes and to enrich their personal music libraries. Most pieces can be purchased and downloaded through iTunes, Amazon, Classical Archives, and many other retailers. YouTube can also be an excellent resource.
