What the Music Means to Me

A part of the Willamette Valley Symphony's mission is to engage our audiences with thought-provoking and innovative programming and collaborations.

One of these programs is our "What the Music means to Me", which takes place 30 minutes before each concert. We invite all audience members to come early, find a comfortable seat, and participate in a discussion regarding whatever is on their minds about not only the music featured on that day's concert program but also anything they would like to know about or discuss regarding the orchestra, music, literature, culture, etc. Each "What the Music means to Me" session will feature some combination of a member (or members) of the orchestra, our Music Director, our soloist, and guest presenters, discussing how music is a vital and vibrant part of their lives. Like our concerts, these discussions are an informal and fun way to get to know your orchestra as well as fellow music lovers.

The intent of "What the Music means to Me" is to be relevant to the lives of not only our audience members but also our orchestra members. We hope that you will attend these sessions and share with us "What the Music means to Me".

If you have an idea for a future "What the Music means to Me" topic, please feel free to contact us with your suggestions.

See you at the concert!
